INSTALLATION
Do I need a plumber to install the Bidetwash Optima?
If you're mounting the complete Optima set — toilet and smart seat together — we recommend having a plumber handle the water connection and wall fixings. It's a straightforward job for any qualified plumber, and most complete it in under two hours. For the Smart Seat on an existing toilet, many homeowners fit it themselves using our step-by-step guide.
Will it fit my existing wall-hung toilet?
The Optima Smart Seat fits 80–90% of standard European wall-hung toilets. All you need is a nearby power socket and a compatible water connection point. If you're unsure about compatibility, use our fit check to find out.
How long does the full installation take?
Bidetwash installs in 15–25 minutes without a plumber. You need access to the water inlet behind your toilet and a nearby power socket. The package includes all hardware, and the instructions are illustrated step by step. If your toilet has the standard connections (which 95% of European toilets do), you won't need to call anyone.
What power supply does it need?
The Optima Smart Seat needs a standard grounded 230V socket nearby — ideally within 1.5 metres of the toilet. If there isn't one already, an electrician can add one quickly, and it's a very common request during bathroom renovations.
Is any special water connection required?
No specialist plumbing is needed. The Optima connects to a standard cold water supply, just like any toilet. The unit heats the water internally to your preferred temperature, so there's no need to tap into a hot water line.
HYGIENE
Is water cleaning actually more hygienic than toilet paper?
Yes — and it's not really a close comparison. Dry paper doesn't remove residue, it spreads it. Water cleans gently and thoroughly, the same way a shower feels cleaner than a towel. How does the nozzle stay clean?
The nozzle on the Optima is self-cleaning — it rinses itself automatically before and after every use. The ceramic and seat surfaces are smooth and non-porous, which means bacteria have nowhere to settle. A quick weekly wipe-down is all the maintenance you'll need.
Is it suitable for the whole family, including children and older users?
Absolutely. The Optima has adjustable water pressure and temperature, a heated seat, and gentle spray settings that work well for everyone, including young children, pregnant women, and elderly users. Many of our customers tell us it's the feature their family enjoys most.
FIT & DESIGN
Will it look bulky or out of place in my bathroom?
The Optima is the most compact shower toilet on the market — and it's wall-hung, so all the technology is hidden inside a sleek, ceramic form. There are no visible hoses, boxes, or panels. From the outside, it looks like a beautifully minimal modern toilet.
What does the remote control look like and where does it go?
The remote is slim and modern, and it comes with a discreet wall holder that mounts at arm's reach from the toilet. It blends naturally into any bathroom without looking like a medical device or a TV remote — just a clean rectangular panel on the wall.

What happens if something goes wrong with the product?

How often does it need maintenance or servicing?
